LMA Europe goes from strength to strength

In one of his last errands as outgoing President of the European faction of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA), former Orrick CMO Jon Brewer welcomed many of his London-based peers at the LMA’s Autumn Social in late October. Lextel partners Richard Forster and Stephen Mulrenan were delighted to attend the gathering and meet so many interesting colleagues.

This was the second LMA Europe networking event that Lextel has attended this year, and on each occasion, they have represented a rare opportunity to learn from a variety of different stakeholders in the industry.

A huge thank you (and good luck) to Jon (who is now embarking on a new career with Intapp as Senior DealCloud Growth Director) as well as thanks to Heather Vadgama, Clare Wiggan, and the entire Programming Committee for putting together such a stellar event.

The big announcement on the evening was a date for your calendar: Wednesday 2 July 2025 will see the launch of the inaugural LMA Europe Region Conference. With a theme entitled, ‘Strategies for the Future’, this one-day event will bring together legal marketing and business development professionals from across Europe.

Whether you’re a CMO or part of the next generation of legal marketers, the Conference programme offers expert panels, workshops, and valuable networking opportunities to equip you with the tools to drive growth and success in a dynamic global market. Registration has already opened, so we hope to see you there!

Driving this and other developments in 2025 will be Jon’s successor, and President-Elect, Karen Morton. The slate of candidates for the 2025 Regional Governing Board of the LMA Europe Region was ratified on 27 September, and the newly elected and continuing officers and directors will begin their terms on 1 January.

Karen, CMO at Cleary Gottlieb, will continue the LMA’s great work in Europe on education, networking, mentorship as well as growing our community. Lextel partner James Nurton interviewed Karen earlier this year, as she assumed her new role at Cleary Gottlieb.

The Autumn Social was hosted at the still relatively new London offices of Baker McKenzie and sponsored by professional services recruiter, Ambition.
